White Americans who don’t see the irony in sporting skull-with-war-bonnet tattoos/overpriced shirts/whatever make me lose faith in humanity. *newsflash: your ancestors killed my ancestors. Yeahhhhh the opener for the cursive Ume show I went to was some Denver band and I think part of the reason I didn’t like them was they had a poster with a native woman in a war bonnet and kind of reversed upside down was a a skull with a war bonnet. All of the band members were white dudes and the singer also wore some kind of poncho thing that was kind of reminiscent of something possibly tribe affiliated too? Idk. They didn’t seem to have any songs talking about native issues (the guy sounded like that guy from killswitch engage kind of and had a stage presence trying way too hard to be Aaron Weiss so it was hard to understand him) but maybe I’m wrong? Anybody who saw them with cursive know any different? To me it seemed like an uncool thing to have as a poster for a concert. It also bums me out because cursive wrote a song about the racism in america toward native americans and then this band opened for them.
